The Holiday Inn development site is part of the Fellenoord district, one of the key areas within the large-scale Knoop XL regeneration programme. Around 85% of the planned homes will be delivered in the affordable housing segment. Alongside new homes, the scheme will include a a primary school, childcare facilities, after-school care and a sports hall under one roof.
Plans also provide space for a range of commercial and community facilities tailored to the needs of residents and visitors, including hospitality venues, small-scale retail, workspaces, studios and sports facilities. A hotel concept is also envisaged as part of the development, with its precise set-up to be determined at a later stage.
The framework allows for the development of a residential tower of up to 150 metres in height. If realised at its maximum height, the tower would become one of the tallest buildings in Eindhoven and the surrounding region, creating a striking new landmark on the city skyline.
Knoop XL, the major regeneration programme surrounding Eindhoven central station, will include some 9,000 new homes when completed.
