Nelson Smile is one of five buildings planned for KCAP's urban plan named 'Nelson', a new neighbourhood located in Amsterdam’s southeastern district of the Bijlmer.

The complete plan envisages a highly urban development with 440 residential units plus various social and commercial facilities. The ensemble of five buildings forms a link between the Arenapoort shopping area, the suburban restructuring of old Bijlmer, with its single-family dwellings, and expansive greenery of Nelson Mandelapark.
