The Rijnhaven is located on the southern bank of the river Maas, in the heart of Rotterdam and just a stone’s throw from the iconic Erasmus Bridge. Opened in 1895, it functioned as a harbour for around 100 years. In recent years, the area has been transformed into part of the city centre.
One third of the harbour is being filled in to create new land, where up to 3,000 homes will be built alongside offices, hospitality venues, shops and a health centre. The plan is divided across three blocks with six towers in total, the tallest of which could reach 250 metres. A large park will also be created, with space for up to 700 trees and a city beach that will make the harbour accessible for swimmers.
