The Schinkelkwartier is one of the biggest redevelopment sites in Amsterdam and will be transformed into a lively mixed-use area over the next 25 years. The area, south west of the city centre, is close to the Zuidas business district and Schiphol airport, giving it a strategic position within the greater Amsterdam area. 

When completed, the area will have some 11,000 homes spread over six different residential districts, as well as over a million square metres of office and commercial space. The development also includes two innovation districts for small, knowledge intensive and creative companies.
