The Sax is a new residential complex overlooking the river in central Rotterdam which will provide 916 homes plus meeting places, a bicycle park for 1,900 bikes, and an automated car parking system when completed. The building plot is just 2,560 square meters, giving De Sax the highest housing density in the Netherlands.

Half the homes will be affordable rentals, and the complex also includes 44 apartments especially designed for flat-sharers as well as a launderette, workshop, rooftop gardens and spaces to study.

The complex comprises two residential towers: the 180-metre, 55-storey “Havana” and 82-metre, 26-storey “Philadelphia”. These are bridged by a golden beam with six floors of residential units and a roof terrace at a height of 100 metres, accessible to all residents. The building takes its name from its distinctive saxophone-inspired silhouette.
